Advice for dating a man going through a divorce

What’s more, guys who have been through a divorce generally aren’t in a huge hurry to get back on the horse and start dating again. At least as much as someone who has never been there can.

Sure, I’ve had my share of breakups that were hard to get through. When you go through a divorce a big part of who you were before changes.

Chances are, the last few months (or years) of his marriage weren’t fun. He doesn’t want you plopping yourself down on his lap and making out at the dinner table at a fancy restaurant. Unlike guys before marriage, divorced guys aren’t into games.

Even though he said he wanted kids, I could tell half way through our dating that things had changed, and I ignored the signs.

He already had two children already and even though in the first instance he said he wanted to have another with me, I knew that he had started to change his mind 3 months in as I could sense it and I ignored the signs as I didn't want to face the consequences of that outcome.

And with the prevalence of cheating, a lot of times one partner has already begun a new relationship and the other partner is now seeking to get 'mine.' Once it's been decided by one, or both, partners to end the relationship, most typically both of partners start seeking a new relationship. If you really care about your new love interest then you'll apply more reason than emotion to your decision about dating while separated.

Being separated and not dating is one of the hardest temptations to resist. You'll also make your decision about more than just what you want.

Yes, I knew that he was divorced and had two children, but just knowing that he did want kids was to overcome the first hurdle of dating him.
